After spending a week in beautiful California it was hard to come back to the rainy days of a Southwestern Ontario October. The days were hot and the nights were a relief, as we hit record highs in San Francisco. We spent the first few days in Napa Valley with a relaxed atmosphere at the Silverado Resort where we had units along the golf course. We could literally open the back sliding glass door and watch the golfers swinging away on the 7th hole. Days were filled with lounging at the pool or spa and nights were full of great food and delicious wines in neighbouring towns of Napa and Yountville. The most interesting foods we came across were candied bacon at Redd and truffle fries at Bottega. Both strangely delicious. Then it was off to the J W Marriott in San Fran, which is a newly renovated hotel with a smaller boutique feel right in the centre of town. We hit the local attractions like Fisherman's Wharf, Macy's in Union Square, China Town and of course, Ghiradelli's Chocolate shop where you can never get enough free samples. We spent a night a the Jazz Bistro and later knocked at the door of a Speak Easy and whispered the secret password. And all too soon it was time to go home. So, we took ourselves and a list of ideas to help make the next WCS Convention the best ever home with us!
